A reminder that National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries will begin implementing mandatory electronic data requirements in ACE for imported shrimp and abalone products December 31, 2018. At that time, shrimp and abalone will be part of the Seafood Import Monitoring Program (SIMP), requiring 17 data elements, including harvest and landing data, for imported shrimp and abalone products. Importers also must maintain chain of custody records for shrimp and abalone imports entering the U.S.
The SIMP became effective for 13 other seafood products in January 2018. At the direction of Congress earlier this year, NOAA was ordered to include shrimp and abalone in the program.
This week, NOAA Fisheries will host its final webinar in a series about the US Seafood Import Monitoring Program (SIMP), including the reporting and recordkeeping requirements, the data elements that are required for data reporting, particularly for farmed products; and provide an update about software testing.

Webinar to be held on June 27, 2018, @ 2pm EST.
